One of the best things about staying at The Norton is that everything is within easy walking distance.
Whether you’re grabbing food after work, meeting colleagues for a pint, or looking to switch off for the evening, Seaton Carew has plenty nearby.
A popular local Italian just a short walk from the hotel serving pizzas, pasta and classic Italian favourites. Ideal for a relaxed sit-down meal after work.
Traditional fish and chips with a sit-down restaurant area as well as takeaway options. Perfect for an easy dinner without heading far from the hotel.
Great for lighter bites, coffee, cocktails and a more relaxed atmosphere during the day or evening.
Bowling, darts, shuffleboard, food and drinks all under one roof. A good spot to unwind, meet up with work colleagues and blow off steam after long shifts.
A small local micro pub with a relaxed atmosphere and a good range of beers and drinks. Ideal for a quieter pint close to the seafront.
Popular locally for its Sunday lunches and seafront location. Great for a proper meal and a quieter afternoon by the coast.
A family-run mobile coffee house parked up right in front of the hotel, serving proper speciality coffee from Rounton Coffee Roasters.
Grab a brew and a sweet treat on your way to site or on your day off, doesn't get much closer than that.
From pubs and takeaways to restaurants and the beach itself, The Norton Hotel puts you right in the centre of Seaton Carew without needing to drive everywhere after work.
Right on your doorstep, you've got the National Museum of the Royal Navy.
The main attraction is HMS Trincomalee — a Royal Navy frigate built in 1817 and the oldest warship still afloat in the UK. Have a walk around the deck, below, and the recreated 18th-century seaport while you're there.
A solid way to kill a few hours on your day off.
Also part of the Hartlepool Maritime Experience, the Museum of Hartlepool runs through the town's history from prehistoric times to now. You'll find exhibits on shipbuilding, fishing, and maritime trade, plus a few odd bits like a 'sea monster', a real coble boat, the first gas-illuminated lighthouse, and the story behind the famous Monkey Legend.
Worth a look if you've got an hour to spare.
The Heugh Battery Museum is a restored 19th-century coastal defence battery, and the only British gun battery to actually fire its guns in anger during the First World War.
You can walk the site, see the guns, and get the full story of the Bombardment of the Hartlepools. Bit of proper history right on the headland.
A proper Championship links course right on the doorstep, and a serious bit of golfing history.
Originally known as the Durham and Yorkshire Club, it's the tenth-oldest course in England and one of the first fifty clubs ever founded anywhere in the world.
Whether you fancy a full round on your day off or just a post-shift session at the range, it's hard to beat.
A large 7-bed property nearby, available to rent as a whole house, handy if you've got a bigger crew working away together.
What you get:
Sea views
Large kitchen-diner
Big communal living space
4 en-suite bedrooms
Games and cinema room
Enclosed garden
